Built for your resolution

The right gaming PC starts with your monitor. The graphics card does the heavy lifting, so we size it to the resolution and frame rate you actually play at — then balance the rest of the build to keep it fed.

1080p · high FPS

1080p

RTX 5060-class GPU

High frame rates for competitive and esports titles, and maxed settings in most games. The best value per frame, and a great first gaming PC.

1440p · the sweet spot

1440p

RTX 5070-class GPU

The current sweet spot — sharper than 1080p, far easier to drive than 4K, and high refresh rates in most titles. Where we point most gamers.

4K · max detail

4K

RTX 5080-class GPU or above

Maximum detail on a big, high-resolution display. It asks the most of the graphics card — and the cooling and power around it — so the whole build scales up to match.

What actually matters in a gaming PC

A balanced build beats a lopsided one. Here's what each part does for your frame rate, and how we size it.

Graphics card

The single biggest lever on frame rate. We size it to your resolution first — everything else is built to keep it fed.

Processor

Feeds the GPU and runs game logic. Six to eight fast cores with healthy cache is the gaming sweet spot — raw core count past that does more for work than play.

Memory

32 GB of DDR5 in a matched dual-channel pair is the gaming default today — enough headroom for the game, the browser, and a stream all at once.

Storage

A fast NVMe SSD for the OS and your library means quick boots and short load screens. We add a bigger drive when the library is large.

Cooling & power

Headroom keeps the boost clocks high and the fans quiet under a long session. A quality power supply with margin protects the whole machine.

The build itself

Hand-routed cables, a full stress test, and updated firmware before it ships. A clean build runs cooler, quieter, and is far easier to upgrade later.

Two ways to get one

Same shop, same standards, same 3-year warranty. The difference is how much you want to decide yourself. Not sure which fits?

Build it custom

Pick every part in the configurator and see your rig come together on a live diagram, with compatibility checked as you go. Best when you want exactly the right machine or a clear upgrade path.

Grab a prebuilt

Three proven gaming tiers at set prices — Starter, Performance, Elite — that map to 1080p, 1440p, and 4K. Hand-built and tested, with a faster turnaround.

Gaming PC questions

How much does a custom gaming PC cost?
A solid 1080p build starts around $1,000–$1,200. High-FPS 1440p lands near $1,700–$2,000. For 4K, plan on $2,800 and up. A custom build can sit below or above those bands — we size the parts to the games and resolution you actually play at.
What graphics card do I need for 1440p or 4K?
For 1080p, a current RTX 5060-class card runs high frame rates. For 1440p, a 5070-class card is the sweet spot. For 4K, you want a 5080 or above. The GPU is the biggest lever in a gaming PC, so we size it to your monitor first, then balance the CPU and memory to keep it fed.
Is a custom gaming PC worth it over a prebuilt?
A custom build lets you pick exactly the right parts and leaves a clean upgrade path. Our prebuilt tiers are the faster, set-price option when you'd rather have it decided for you. Both are hand-built and tested here and carry the same 3-year warranty and lifetime support. Still deciding?
Do you ship gaming PCs, and what's the warranty?
We ship hand-built gaming PCs across the US from our shop in Fairport, NY, with local pickup available (which saves you money on a prebuilt). Every build includes a 3-year warranty and lifetime tech support, and you talk to the person who built your machine.
Can I upgrade my gaming PC later?
Yes. We build with standard, name-brand parts and tidy cable management, so adding a faster GPU, more storage, or more memory later is straightforward. Do it yourself or bring it back to the shop — and our support team can talk you through it either way.
Should I get a desktop or a gaming laptop?
If the machine is staying on a desk, a desktop wins on performance per dollar, runs its parts at full power, and upgrades for years — a laptop's main edge is that you can carry it. We break down the whole trade in custom PC vs gaming laptop.
Is a gaming PC worth it over a console?
A console is the cheaper, simpler way in. But a gaming PC plays a bigger library, costs less for games and online play over time, and upgrades instead of being replaced — and it doubles as a work and streaming machine. Here's the full gaming PC vs console breakdown.
